⁸ He also gave four wagons and eight oxen to the Merarites for their responsibilities. They were under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest. ⁹ None of them were given to the Kohathites, for it was their job to carry their portion of the tabernacle upon their shoulders.

¹⁰ The leaders also presented offerings to commemorate the dedication of the altar on the day that it was anointed. The leaders placed their offerings before the altar.
